To the Faculty & Staff at Darrington:
I hope this letter finds you all happy, healthy, & full of joy. I would
like to start off by saying thank you for watching over him. Thank you all for
helping him to transition from the lost scared little boy to the strong, confident,
and loving man he will definitely become. His journey would surely not have
been possible without your love and support for him. Thanks for pushing him
with gentle and capable hands.
Thank you.
Cindy & Chris S.

To the Staff at Darrington Academy:
We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for what you are giving
our child, Colin. You are giving him a second chance to the person he was meant
to be. He does not know that yet, but we do. Thank you for being such a dedicated
Staff. We see this in your actions and your words. We know how much you care
for our child. And we appreciate that you will not accept any thing but the
best for him – no matter what he detests or protests! Your school provides
what he needs at this moment in his life, based on the choices he has made so
far. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Scott and Durrine K.
P.S. I want to thank John and Dusky for their help to me during admissions
and tours. I’d Like to thank Janette for her work with Colin, and Particularly
Mayte for Breaking Through!

Darrington:
I want to thank you for the Focus seminar. I have never felt so warm and loved.
I wish I had this when I was young. I would have been another person. I wouldn’t
have had to carry all this baggage, and I am glad that you are giving Discovery
and Focus to our children. They well get a lot out to it.
Thank you.
Geraldine P.

Dear Darrington Academy:
When Sasha was first sent to Darrington, I was very supportive, because I felt
she just needed to get away from home – I saw our family and our household
(and her friends) as being a large source of the problem… However after
really learning about what Darrington has to offer and learning what the Discovery
and Focus seminars are about, I am grateful for the opportunities she will be
allowed to experience. I love that fact that Darrington’s definition of
a successful graduate is someone who is able to have healthy relationships with
those around them. I never really understood what it meant to be able to have
a truly healthy relationship until going through Discovery/Focus and seeing
all the beliefs and behaviors that can get in the way. The fact that Sasha will
have the opportunity to address those beliefs and behaviors and interact with
others on an honest level is amazing, and I am grateful to Darrington for giving
Sasha the tools she’ll need to experience that.

Dear Mr. Darrington
I just graduated focus seminar; one of the exciting & powerful seminars.
I saw other Parents from your school, and I wanted to thank you & your wonderful
staff that dedicate your lives to lead in correct pathways of our children’s
lives. Thank you so much, especially Paige. She works very hard with her group.
Thank you again. Hope to see you at school for PC1.
Sincerely
Shahin E.
Mayte:
Thank you so very much for showing Kevin that he can earn trust again and
again, by your example not your words. This truly means the most, along with
the love you are giving him...
Thanks too for understanding how hard it is for me the “fix-it”
mom to not be with him for the first birthday in 17 years....I know there will
be many more thanks to Darrington and you! Just make sure he smiles in the video
(he he he) and buttons his pants! Honestly, from my heart, thank you...
Love and hugs,
Chris & Cathy H.
Dear Darrington Academy:
Muchas Gracias
Sinceramente
Martha R.
Dear Paige:
I just want to tell you that how much I appreciate the job that you have done
for my child in the program. Your caring, loving, and involvement are wonderful.
You give her love and guide her to become a better person, and encourage her
to do well and comfort her when she needs you. I hope to see you at PC1 that
came in October 2005
Sincerely yours,
Mai P.
Mrs. April,
How are you doing? I'm alright, sorry that it has been so long since I have
written you a letter. This year is going by so quickly... you will be happy
to know that I am on the honor roll, the first time since like 5th grade! I
was thinking a lot about this past year today, and I just want you to know that
not a day goes by that I do not think about Darrington Academy. I go on the
website just to look at the pictures of the girls and remember the joy of not
having to shave and worry about my hair! That school has made such a big difference
in my life, and I really cannot thank you guys enough for all of the things
that everyone did for me. I look at the pictures of myself from last year compared
to this year, and there is just this glow on my face now that wasn't there before.
I was just reading the book that the girls gave me before I left and that is
probably the best thing that anyone has ever given me. I had a long talk with
my mom tonight about this coming up year. I am really scared to start college
in the fall... I mean that is less than a year away before I actually have to
start life! I mean I will be eighteen in like seven months!! Wow, time sure
does fly by. Well, let all of the girls know that I think about them all the
time and I miss them and love them all so much. Let the new girls know that
it's not easy at first, but what you put in, you get out, and to keep their
heads up as much as possible…
…There has been ups and downs, but somehow it seems like there is always
more ups and I always seem to pull myself together. My best friend in the whole
wide world knows everything about where I was and what I did there and she thinks
that the seminars seem really cool and she was just like wow, I cannot believe
that you actually did that. It feels nice ya know.
…Send the girls my love and Rosemary and Tim and Mr. D. too! I miss you
all so much!!
Love always,
Reilly A.
Dear Mr. Darrington,
It’s hard to believe that it was nine months ago that we brought Steven
to the academy. I was looking at some of the information sheets and questionnaires
that I had to fill out in the beginning concerning Steven’s disposition
and circumstances. I am truly amazed how much Steven has turned around. I thank
the academy for pushing Steven to his limits to make the choice of being who
he was or becoming the person he is supposed to be. When we brought Steven there,
I cried from sadness and pain; now I cry tears of joy….
…I just want to say a few things about [Rosemary]. She has been a wonderful
mentor for Steven, and I could not ask more of her. Rosemary has also been a
friend to me in one of the most difficult times in my life. She has true concern
for her children at the academy and for her parents. I look forward to speaking
with her every week. Her compassion for Steven and others has made my time away
from Steven a little easier knowing that there is someone there that cares about
my son. Even after Steven returns home, I will truly miss her.
Thank you, Mr. Darrington, for your vision. This world needs more people like
you. I publicly praise the school and recommend it without hesitation. I don’t
think I can thank you enough for what your vision has done for my son and family.
In some ways, I hate to close this letter. I could write a book about all the
good the school has done for my family. Darrington Academy will always be in
our hearts and never forgotten. I pray that you will have continued success
and that others such as Steven will step up and follow in your footsteps.
With warmest regards and heartfelt thanks,
Laura
